Lesbian Game Changers Panel at SFPL (R-L) with Crystal Jang, Carla Trujillo, Olga Talamante and Robin Lowey

Educational talks & educator trainings

Robin Lowey is an author, advocate, and historian whose work elevates the discourse in our country about the role lesbian history plays in advancing LGBTQ civil rights and social equity. As the founder of Lesbian Game Changers, her work focuses on lesbians’ achievements that advance a more inclusive society, while spotlighting the unmet needs of a culture that continues to oppress LGBTQ people.

As a featured speaker at conventions, events, organizations, libraries, universities, middle and high schools, Robin speaks from the premise that queer individuals can be made strong from being seen and valued for who they are. She calls on parents, teachers, advocates, and employers to help LGBTQ youth to identify their potential in their careers, communities, and families and to empower them to find the self-awareness and self-efficacy to pursue it. For several years, Robin has visited classrooms as a member of the LGBT speaker's bureau in the San Francisco Bay Area. She trains student leaders and educators to understand current terminology, stereotypes that affect discrimination and the shifting LGBTQ climate in schools today. She helps them address their implicit bias and work with them to create positive, safe and inclusive environments for students. See below for an overview of Robin’s educator workshop.

As a lesbian parenting pioneer, Robin often speaks to parent groups, introducing them to the women trailblazers who created a roadmap for today's queer families.
